Came across the observation above and had to share mine. I was in a waiting room several months back and after sitting there for a few moments, I realized it was too quiet. Pin drop quiet. Creepy quiet. I glanced up, expecting to be the only person in the room. To the contrary, I was sitting among six or seven other people.
All of them — every single one — had their faces down in their smartphones as if reality outside their gadget bubble simply did not exist.
Still gives me chills to think about how eerily quiet that room was…like sitting in a box full of robots in sleep mode.
This is why people can’t seem to wake up.
